Lynn Lestock and Rebecca Grosso return as your host at Vela Baja.

Lysta Lestock
Well she just can't get enough of this Los Barriles place...it's Lysta's 14th season! Windsurfing for over 20 years now and still gets an adrenaline rush when the whitecaps come. This former US Olympic Sailboard Team member also enjoys mountain biking, horseback riding, sea kayaking, hiking and golfing with her beau, Bill. |

Rebecca Grosso
Rebecca is returning for her 6th season, she can’t get enough of Baja’s vast beaches, fresh air and the Sea of Cortez! Windsurfing has become her new passion (as long as the water doesn’t get too cold). When Rebecca sees you smiling she knows her job is done! Rebecca is sponsored by Dakine. |
Rob Gold, windsurf instructor:
A zeal for all things ocean and love of Baja has Rob returning to us for a second year in Los Barriles. With varied windsurfing experience in the Bay Area, Maui, Baja and the Gorge he chooses to winter here for the beauty, winds and swell of the Sea of Cortez, and is stoked to be a part of Vela again this season. Rob is sponsored by No-Limitz.

Chris has been in the bicycle business for over 15 years and when he’s not racing (road, mountain or cyclocross) he’s chasing the best riding conditions from Bend, Oregon to Moab, Utah, to Baja. His latest passion has become endurance races such as 24 Hours of Moab and the Cascade Cream Puff 100. Our Dare2Fly kiting school:
Peter Boot started windsurfing in 1978 while living in
Kuwait. In 1986, while chasing the wind, Peter got his first teaching
job at the Baja Surf Club in Los Barriles. During his seasons in
Cabarete while teaching windsurfing and managing the Vela Center,
Peter tried his hand at kiteboarding and now brings his teaching
skills to Baja for a 4th season as the Dare2Fly manager/instructor.
Peter's main focus during his lessons is safety and a really good time. He makes sure that he can let his students go at the end of the whole course knowing they will be confident and safe with a smile on their faces. If you really want to make Pedro happy - he's always craving Dutch cheese since he is a good ole dutch cheese head! |

Dante Unzon, kitesurf instructor
Dante is born and raised in Baja California,
Mexico. He has been surfing and skateboarding
for many years and when he saw kitesurfing he
knew it was going to become his new passion. He
is certified IKO, has started his own kite school,
is excited to be teaching for Dare2Fly Baja this
season and plans on returning to Dare2Fly Cabarete
in 2007. Dante thanks Peter Paul Boot and Ian
Sanders for teaching him how to kitesurf, giving
him many tips along the way and encouraging him
to pursue his dream of becoming an instructor.
Solo sigue tu corazon y tus suenos seran realidad! |

Our volunteer staff
'Many of you know them and love them - they are the "Vela Volunteers"!! Always smiling they drive your board up wind no matter how many times you end up at the down-wind flag (be warned if you go too far south the penalty is a pitcher of Margaritas!), they help you check the gear in and out, they are eager to sail with you during their free time, they stretch you and keep you limber, they take you on adventures, and they help with the hottest fashions in the retail shed.'
