In just a few short years JP Australia has grown from a small niche brand to the leader in high performance windsurf boards thanks to the efforts of the most committed and enthusiastic development team in the business, JP Australia offers beginner boards, freeride and boards as well as the amazing recreational and competitive wave, freestyle and super-cross boards. They also created the Young Gun boards for the young sailor and a line of super fast Slalom boards. More than ever, JP Australia offers a board line for every windsurfer, from the complete beginner to the seasoned pro.
The board lines available at each destination were carefully selected to match the conditions.

Starboard In our continuous quest to provide the best possible equipment, we continuously monitor what is happening on the manufacturing side of the industry.

The last few years we've been following the rise of Starboard with great interest. While many companies are struggling to maintain market share, Starboard managed to rise to market leaders in a very short period of time. Their formula for success is surprisingly simple: put together a team of true windsurf enthusiasts that firmly believe that windsurfing is the greatest sport on the planet. Their simple goal is to grow the sport by making windsurfing easier, more accessible, more fun and more exciting.

They think outside the box that other manufacturers seemed to be stuck in and created the super wide beginner board, the formula concept, kid specific boards and they transformed all other board types from Freeride to Wave with innovative designs that forced the entire industry to follow suit.

Board Categories:
Vela Resorts reserves boards by category. When you book your vacation, we will ask you for your skill level and board preference. We guarantee you will have the use of a board in the category that you select and usually the opportunity to sail boards in other categories. We book fewer people in each board category than current inventory to ensure there are plenty of boards for all pre-reserved guests.

• Small - All boards 100 liters and smaller.
  For accomplished intermediate through expert sailors in planing conditions.
• Medium - Larger freeride style boards101-130 liters.
  For advanced, intermediates, heavier freeride sailors or lighter air planing.
• Large - All Boards 131-170 liters.
  For those learning to waterstart, use the harness, and get into the straps
• Extra Large - Over 180 liters.
  Full volume boards, perfect for practicing basic long board skills and light air cruising. Not as long as they used to be, but these newer wider versions do still have a
  daggerboard. For those with limited windsurf experience or for light wind.
• Beginner - For the first timers... The biggest boards we could find. Stable as a sidewalk, yet easy to maneuver.

Please note that the sizes of the categories can vary slightly at each desination:
Jericoacoara S = under 90L, M = 91-110L and L = boards over 111L.
Margarita S = under 101: while M = 111-133L.
