Vela Cabarete - Open Year-Round

Located on the island of Hispaniola on the north side of the Dominican Republic, Cabarete faces the Atlantic ocean and is home to a wide variety of incredible windsurfing conditions, as well as enough other things to do that it has become an adventure-traveler's paradise. From one convenient launch directly in front of the Vela center, you'll find everything from flat water cruising to down-the-line wave sailing, depending both on the season and the time of day. 

We currently have 125 windsurf boards from JP and Starboard. The full line of 2011 and 2010 NeilPryde sails are all rigged on carbon masts and ready to go. All equipment is kept in top condition and is replaced each year as soon as the new line is available. So come on down and get on the water!

As you may have seen and heard, Stand Up Paddle (SUP) is taking over waterways all over the map, and there is no exception to the rule at Vela destinations! With great wind conditions not ALWAYS in the mix, Vela has been working to enhance the vacation experience for guests which includes use of SUP boards and new services featuring surf lessons, downwinder tours, races and more. Available to use free of charge during center hours for Vela guests renting windsurf or kitesurf gear (or as a separate rental for non-sailors) we will help to make CERTAIN you are on the water in Cabarete one way or another!
