Windsurf Equipment
We guarantee great gear and plenty of it! Every year we spare no expense to make sure we have the best gear on the beach. Choose from an entire fleet of the latest model NeilPryde rigs and top-quality boards carefully selected to match local conditions. We have boards and rigs for all ability levels and every sailing style. Learn the basics on our forgiving beginner boards. For higher performance, choose from a wide variety of JP Australia, Starboard and a small selection of Tabou boards for you to try. Custom kids rigs are available as well. All guests with pre-booked rentals (plus one additional non-sailing guest) will be given free access to use our additional toys including sea kayaks, soft-top surfboards, stand up paddle boards, and boogie boards.
RESERVING BOARDS
When you’re ready to book your vacation, we’ll ask for your skill level and board preference (see categories below). We guarantee you will have the use of a board in the category of your choice and usually the opportunity to sail boards in other categories. We book fewer people in each board category than current inventory to ensure there are plenty of boards for all pre-booked guests.
WAVE/FREESTYLE ”SMALL”
All boards 100 liters and smaller. For accomplished intermediate through expert sailors in planing conditions. Examples: JP Australia Pro Wave, Real World Wave, Freestyle Wave and SuperSport , Starboard Evo and Kode.
FREERIDE ”MEDIUM”
Larger freeride style boards 101-130 liters. For advanced, intermediates, heavier freeride sailors or lighter air planing. Examples: JP Australia X- Cite Ride and SuperSport , Starboard Kode and Futura.
TRANSITIONAL BOARDS ”LARGE”
131-170 liters. For those learning to waterstart, use the harness, and
get into the straps. Example: JP Australia X-Cite Ride and Starboard Futura.
LONG BOARDS ”XL”
Over 180 liters. Full volume boards, perfect for practicing basic long board skills and light air cruising. Not as long as they used to be, but these newer wider versions do still have a daggerboard. For those with limited windsurf experience or light wind. Example: JP Australia Funster 180 and Starboard Go.
BEGINNER BOARD
For the first-timers the biggest board we could find. Stable as a sidewalk, yet easy
to maneuver. JP Funster and Starboard Start & Rio, Hifly Primo, Fanatic Viper - depending on local conditions.
