Wind Reports and Weather

Unobstructed, offshore winds average 18–28 mph. It typically blows lighter in the morning and peaks in the afternoon. Typically lighter than Margarita, which gets a boost from thermals, but smooth and flat as a glass of water. Conditions are ideal for intermediate through advanced sailors. Waterstart recommended due to offshore winds.

Good Morning.......Here is your current Wind Report compliments of Yeli & Marko.....It's pretty simple.....WIND....basically everyday since last report. Most mornings a bit light ....6.2 - 6.7 (as is typical for Coche) but picking up almost every afternoon getting people out on 5.8's, 5.4's and a few days of blasting 5.0. Great fun with Coche's super flat water!! The forecast looks like we will continue to see more of the same. YIIPPPEEEE !!!! Also keep checking the Coche media page for some COOL new pictures. We were lucky enough to send Dan 'Da Man' Galic (Pro Canadian Photographer) over for a day trip. He got some great photos.....sailing, kiting, hotel...as well as some really nice shots of Marko, Yeli and their 'little guy' Brane (4 1/2 yrs). Check them out.......Karl should be posting them soon.........That's it for today. Yeli & Marko (& T-Freak)

March 24 2009

Greetings and here is your Coche Wind Update.....direct from Yeli & Marko....The wind has been pretty good since last report....most days, lighter in the morning and picking up in the afternoon. Not 'Nukin' but still good sailing albeit on larger gear....5.8 - 6.2 - 6.7. Then strangely enough...the past few days, stronger in the mornings only to back off a bit around 3 in the afternoon. Strange indeed as we are used to the afternoon winds always being stronger than the mornings.....Weather in general....warm & sunny....this morning though, we are seeing scattered clouds....sun shining on and off. .....That's it for now......Check back next week for more news. T-Freak, Yeli & Marko

Coche Wind Update....Well, Yeli says it was a strange weather week there in Coche.....started off with a few days of light wind..OK for big sails...6.7, 7.2. The next day they had strong but stormy winds...dropping off late afternoon. 9th, 10th and 11th....NO WIND!! OUCH. Crazy wind pattern for this time of year. And then the past few days....clear, sunny....sort of cool with light winds and big sails. Today, Monday, looks much better.......See ya all next week......T-Freak, Yeli & Marko

March 1 2009

Hello out there.....Here is your weekly wind update as reported by Yeli & Marko in Coche....They had a great week there as we did in Margi. Yeli said that it was very windy all week. Sun, Mon, Tues & Wed.....Guys on 5.0's & 5.4's...maybe bigger guys up to 5.8. SUNNY..and Beautiful. Thurs even more stable. Yeli also mentioned that on Friday, it was a bit cloudy in the AM, but cleared mid day for some good sailing...but on slightly larger sails (6.2 up to 7.2). .....Also had quite a few Margi clients heading to Coche during the week. Bill had so much fun on Thurs that he and his wife had to return on Friday...COOL.....That flat water blasting is AMAZING!!! Jeff, Missy and their sons Josh & Ian went over yesterday for a 'combo' day. The guys are just getting into windsurfing....sailing just an hour or so...here and their....their real passion is tennis.....PERFECT!! Jeff and Missy ripped it up on the water....and Marko took Josh and Ian over to the courts at Hotel Coche Speed Paradise (where the Vela station is located) so they could rip the covers off those little green fuzzy balls. Haven't seen them yet today, but heard they all had a wonderful time. Everybody wins!!...The stronger winds then returned yesterday...guys on 5.8's...gal's mostly 5.0's....All sounds good to me!!!  (Thanks to Yeli & Marko for being on these weekly updates)    .......Check back next week for more current info.     Ciao for now.    T-Freak, Marko & Yeli

February 22 2009

Hello and greetings to all......Here is the updated wind report from Yeli & Marko in Coche....It always surprises me how different the conditions can be in Coche vs El Yaque even though Coche is only 5 or 6 miles to our south. Sometimes windier there....sometimes here. Seems like this past week we had better conditions here in 'da Yaq'. Yeli said that early in the week the winds were light but gorgeous weather over all....then they had a few 'goofy' days with some wind, then drizzle, then the sun and wind returning. She even said they had some shore break there in the bay....Very unusual.....never seen that before. Apparently the 'wind gods' took another nap for a day or so. Later in the week and through the last few days the wind returned.....Just like here. (Well, maybe not quite as strong as here) .....Also, Yeli mentioned that they are 'bracing' for the Carnival beach parties......just like we are here. Gonna be a little crazy for the next few days.....but that's OK....Great entertainment!!!...and then we'll have our beaches back to normal. .....That's it for now......check back next week for more current data.      Later....T-Freak, Yeli & Marko

February 16 2009

Hello All.....T-Bone here with an update from Coche. Just recieved the official report from Marko & Yeli (Our Coche Center Managers) Sounds as though they've been having similar conditions as here in Margi. Yeli said that the wind was very light on the 7th and 8th but returned nicely for the next days. Like here, some rainy mornings but eventually clearing up and wind kicking in. Today we again awoke to cloudy skies, but seems to be clearing as I type. Yeli did mention that Marko (170 Lbs) was out on a 5.4 and JP 101....totally powered. The bad news is that his seshion for the most part was to 'police' the 'zone's'.....In other words...chasing the Kiters out of the windsurf area. As is the case in most places, Coche has designated a 'Windsurf Zone' separate from the 'Kite Zone'....keeps everybody happy and safe, right? (Thanks Marko)......Anyway....keep checking back as I plan to continue with Coche updates......Take care.....More Later

JANUARY 30, 2009
