SUP Class Racing

There are two SUP classes in the Highland Spring HIHO event: YOLO Adventure One-Design and Open. All racers in the YOLO Adventure class must use the 12’ YOLO Original board. We rent this for $225. Racers in the Open class may use any board, providing it is not longer than 14’.

YOLO Adventure One Design class: This class is designed for intermediate to advanced level paddlers with an emphasis on fun & adventure! Races in the YOLO Adventure One Design class will, for the most part, be in confined and protected waters, not open and inter-island legs. YOLO Adventure One Design class racers can expect course lengths to be less than one hour and include fun & adventure features like diving down to collect treasure, buoy chicane courses, relay races and portage legs.

Open Class: These racers will be tested by longer inter-island paddles and course lengths of up to 7-miles. Open class racers may race in chop and swell conditions of up to several feet in height. The Open class is open to any type of board, providing it is not longer than 14’. (The winning board in the 2010 event was 14’).
