Hiking:
Take a morning or late-afternoon trek to the top of the volcanic hump that gives the main-island (Gran Roque) its name. Standing at less than 500 feet elevation, it won't seem like you are on top of the world, but you will get some great views of the area plus the sailing area you've been playing in to the east. Don't forget to check out the working lighthouse on the furthest tip of the island.

Fishing is mainly done by wadding on flats, but also found some mudding at deeper waters, sizes are very large and amount of fishes, you have to see it to believed. You'll find one of the best places you can imagine to fish, not only because the great amount of fishes, but also the great amount of flats waiting for you to wade in and catch more fishes than you ever imagined. Sailing:
Chartered boating services come easy in Los Roques, as many captains are more than happy to call the moorings their home. Day trips can normally be arranged the day before a trip, and if the winds are strong you can explore much of the area over generally flat and clam waters.
Absolutely Nothing!
There is no shame in this: take it easy and enjoy your incredible and remote surroundings! All complete packages with the posada offered through Vela include daily "Excursions" which are arranged with local boat captains. Each day you'll depart with a picnic lunch, beach-umbrella, and beach-chairs plus plenty of water bottles, and extra sun-screen to spend the day at one of the neighboring islands. Most likely, you'll go straight to Francisqui Abajo, the peninsula which is home to Vela Los Roques. But, if it isn't windy on a particular day or you are a non-sailing guest, you can ask the captain to take you to any secluded beach within the range of the "Excursions" and you may find yourself a lone soul on an uninhabited island or tiny caye in this exceptional national park. Bring a book, and you are SET!
