We all have to start somewhere, and the beginning is ALWAYS best. This is the basics of kite control and handling, flying the latest-model kites from Cabrinha. You will learn equipment terminology and setup, as well as the wind effects and wind window theory. You will learn how to fly your kite hooked into the harness using the power of the kite in a safe environment, how to use your safety system, launch and land and fly the kite with the de-power loop.

Step 2 : Water Control - Body drag
The next step brings you into the water. You will learn how to change direction with your kite in the water, how to water re-launching a crashed kite from the water and the self rescue. You will also learn some additional body drag techniques such as Upwind body dragging (you will need this skill to retrieve the board after a crash).

Step 3 : Board Control - Waterstart
We set you up on a board and teach you the water start theory: board and body positioning while piloting the kite, diving the kite to enable standing up on the board and controlling the speed and the direction. This final level covers the remaining topics to make you a totally independent. You should be able to rent some equipment and be an independent kiteboarder after completion of this 9 hours program. You will know how to choose a spot, rig your gear, and know everything about the safety to ride back and forth from the beach.

Step 4: Board Control - Kiteboarding Upwind
Now that you are up and riding, its time to put some more skills into your bag of tricks. Take advantage of consistent winds and your instructors' expertise to get you riding upwind. With the correct gear selection for your level and the conditions, and with feedback from your instructors, you will maximize your time on the water.

Step 5: Board Control - Kiteboarding Transitions
