Vela St Martin is equipped with the latest in high performance gear featuring NeilPryde sails and rigs and JP Australia boards. As at most other Vela centers, all our gear is rigged and waiting for you right on the beach. The island receives excellent weather, sunny and warm most of the year because of its dry climate. Winds average 13 - 15 mph, though back-to-back days of 20+ are common during certain times of the year. The tradewinds season extends from the beginning of December until the end of April. July and June generally receive tropical waves which reinforce the tradewinds. Typically, the wind is more established in the morning, weakens mid-day, only to be reinforced in the early afternoon.
