***CABARETE: NO EFFECTS FROM THE EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI***

The Dominican Republic experienced no damage from the earthquake and all transportation systems, communication systems, tourism businesses are operating smoothly. The major global tourism destination in the Dominican Republic in the North and East of the island are located at least 400 miles (633 kilometers) from Haiti's capital, or a 10-12 hour drive, with numerous mountain ranges separating the two countries. The Cabarete hotels, resorts, beaches and natural environment suffered no damages, and all tourism businesses are conducting normal business operations.  

Unfortunately, as you know, the effects in Haiti have been a disaster, and our thoughts and prayers reach out to the people of the nation. If you would like to help out in any way there are numerous aid organizations out there, but we have a referral from a well-established contact who vouches for this US-based group.
