Los Roques Marine National Park, Venezuela

beautiful. Stunning aqua marine waters, powder white
sands, deserted beaches and steady WIND! We have traveled
the globe in search of the ultimate windsurf site...and
we think we have finally found it-- Los Roques. This
Marine Archipelago is composed of 42 pristine islands
surrounded by fabulous reefs and crystal clear waters.
From our exclusive location on Francisque Island you
can sail flat water, bump & jump, small side shore
waves, or go explore the many adjacent islands.
Location:
Los Roques Marine National Park is located in the lower
Caribbean approximately 200 miles off the north coast
of Venezuela, directly north of Caracas. Flights to
Los Roques are available daily from Isla Margarita or
directly from Caracas. All flights land on the small
island Gran Roques. From there, it is a quick 5 minute
boat ride over to Francisque Island - the location of
Vela Los Roques. Most windsurfers choose to visit Los
Roques on a day-trip from El Yaque (Margarita). Flight
can be arranged by Vela.
 Wind/
Windsurfing Conditions:
From our exclusive location on Francisque Island you
can sail perfectly flat water, fun bump & jump conditions,
and side shore waves. Or you can spend the day exploring
the surrounding islands via windsurfer. All levels will
find Los Roques quite good, although we recommend intermediate
or above sailors. The wind typically blows 4.0 to 7.0
sail size from January to June.
Day trips to
Los Roques from Margarita:
One of the best ways to experience Los Roques is to
take a day trip from Margarita. Day trips can be arranged
by the Vela staff in Margarita. Flights to Los Roques
leave Margarita between 6 and 9am. You arrive one hour
later and then catch the boat over to Francisque around
9am. After a day of windsurfing and fun, the boat will
bring you back to catch your 6pm flight back to Margarita.
Without a doubt...this is a day you will never forget.

Equipment:
At Vela Los Roques we have the latest boards from F2
and sails from Neil Pryde. Our windsurf equipment ranges
from slalom cruising gear to bump & jump / wave
gear. Max capacity: 10 sailors.
Instruction:
Private instruction is available on a daily basis with
Elias, our Los Roques center manager.

Fun Beyond Windsurfing:
Los Roques boast some of the most incredible snorkeling
in the world. The Vela center has masks, fins, and snorkels
for your use. Los Roques is also world renowned for
bone-fishing - said to be the most exciting form of
salt-water fly-fishing. There are endless beaches to
explore, lots of sun to soak up, and a very tranquil
setting to redefine your definition of relaxation.
