Tom and Kathy Mastbaum
It’s now been 14 years that we have been living our “Dream” here in Margarita. We love everyday here with our great staff, which is like family, and our friendly guests. How bad can if be….Get up, walk one hundred yards to the office (Beach), and endure yet another day of “Cool’ people, “Warm” weather and “Great” windsurfing. We like to spend our spare time on the tennis court and at the golf course. |
Bernardo Sanchez
I’m beginning my 11th season with Vela and I feel very proud of the time I’ve worked and what I’v learned from this company and my fellow workers. I speak Spanish, English, German a little Italian.
My wife and I have 5 children. Little by little we are working on an addition to our home. Even though I have been windsurfing for 11 years I always have a great time on the water.
Come on down and make a few reaches with me.

Luis "Wicho" Salazar
On my 13th season with Vela I feel more and more at home.
I am still the board repair guy, but over the years I’ve learned all aspects of the business. I speak Spanish and I am studying English. I am always having fun and good laughs with my buddies and all of the vela clients.
Come to El Yaque and you’ll have a great time too. |
Alexander "Alex" Vasquez
I’m totally crazy for water sports, especially windsurfing and kitesurfing. I’ve worked in Vela for 8 seasons already and yes, this is my family. I speak Spanish and English.
I have a beautiful 1 year old daughter called Savina and I hope she becomes a professional windsurfer or kiter for Venezuela. Hope you visit us, I know you’ll have a wonderful time. |

Douglas “El Negro” Salazar
I’m almost 18 years old and I’m simply crazy for windsurfing. I’m almost a professional windsurfer and good friends with Ricardo Campello, Gollito and Cheo Diaz with whom I’v learned a lot of freestyle moves. I love working with people too. Come and see some of my new tricks and maneuvers. |
My nickname means “Ranger” because I come from a place in Venezuela where there’s a lot of horseback riding. I left all that behind to now ride another kind of bronco called a windsurfer.
I’m sort of new to this sport, only started one year ago, but, I really love it.
I’m 30 years old, single dad and I’m raising a beautiful 8 year old daughter named Scarlet. |

Johan “Ruli” Vasquez
My nickname “Ruli” means “Curly” so I think you can guess what my hair style is like. I am the newest guy on the team, beginning my second season. Working with all the vela guests is a lot of fun. I only started windsurfing one year ago and I love it. I am 19 years old. |
